Product manufacturer and distributor Long Paws has been making hay while the sun shines as well as when it rains. Over the summer season, Long Paws has seen strong growth in sales of both their stainless steel Pet Water Bottles as well as their MacPAWS packable dog raincoats. According to Elan Mansur, director of Long Paws, “the bottles are a year round necessity, but we see a clear upturn during the hotter periods. The raincoats however, seem to sell consistently all year round, but they do see spurts every time the skies open.”
Mansur also attributes the recent growth in sales to having exhibited for the second time at the Interzoo pet trade exhibition in Nuremberg in May 2014. According to Mansur, even though Interzoo seemed to be less active than it was in 2012, it was still a very successful show for them. Mansur explains “Since Interzoo 2014, in addition to new trade clients, we have added distributors in Italy, Poland, and France and received new orders from our existing distributors and wholesalers in Switzerland, Austria, and the UK”. Long Paws is also in discussions with a number of other international distributors who are interested in selling the Long Paws range from 2015.
When asked about Interzoo 2014, Mansur said he found this year’s show to be quieter than 2012. He also mentioned that feedback they had received from several of the more established exhibitors was that this year’s show was even more dominated by the major companies than previous years. Many of the smaller companies found themselves drowned out. While 2012 saw more visitors on their stand and busier aisles than 2014, the business they have already generated out of Interzoo 2014 has resulted in a significant upturn in sales, with strong potential for even larger growth in the coming months.”
